Dr. Chukwu’s early days were shaped by an undying passion for truth, hard work, justice, and a camaraderie spirit that had him become the protector of his kith and kin. As a born leader, he naturally held positions of authority all through his primary, secondary (Prefect) and higher education (Class Representative).
Among his plethora of rich and enviable academic achievements, both home and abroad are: Ph.D. in Applied Microbiology, University of Jos, and Fellow, Association of Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria (FAMLSN), Molecular Biology and Immunology Technics from the University of Wurzburg, Germany, Certificate in Veterinary Bacteriology Diagnostics, Veterinary Research Institute, Ipoh, Malaysia. Certificate in Computerized Project Management, from International Centre for Career Development, Mbabane, Eswatini, (Swaziland), South Africa. Other achievements include Certificate in Research Development in Sustainable Agriculture, Port-Novo, Benin Republic, Certificate in Total Quality Management, Carter, and Centre, for Disease Control, USA. He was also a Technical Aid Volunteer in Equatorial Guinea, where he acquired a decent language proficiency in Spanish. Worthy of recognition is his membership of different reputable professional and academic boards and bagging of the Merit Award of Excellence during his service year as a Corps Member (NYSC). These and more are his landmark achievement.
He is pragmatic, dynamic, creative and an analytical team player with many years of experience in teaching, research, production, and diagnosis in Medical and Veterinary Laboratory Medicine and allied science subjects. He has several years of experience in planning, project management and administration.
Having cumulative knowledge, apt for Public Health Microbiology and Zoonotic Pathogens of Medical, Veterinary and Public Health of economic importance and having written books as well as published over 85 papers in both International and National peer-review journals in his areas of research, he is a compendium of valuable knowledge. His core research areas of interest are Biotechnology and Molecular Biology diagnostics, Food Microbiology, and zoonotic pathogens of Medical, Veterinary, and emerging and re-emerging public health diseases of economic importance: One Health Laboratory. Others include problem-based learning in Medical Science especially Medical and Veterinary Laboratory Education and training.
He has mentored younger colleagues and supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students who are currently holding several positions in reputable organizations. He is also involved in charitable activities in communities.
He is a man of sound character, compassion, persistence and God-fearing. A brilliant planner, and organizer. He is a person with a calm disposition in the face of challenges. He is bluntly honest, tenacious and of great dexterity in leadership.
As a proven performer and result oriented person, having demonstrated a track record of success, exceptional problem-solving and leadership qualities, he has diligently held several responsibilities most of which remain iconic and symbolic in any given assignment.
His recent appointment as Acting Provost, Federal College of Veterinary and Medical Laboratory Technology, Vom, has shown that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda for Nigeria, especially the youth is real and in the right direction.
He is passionate about excellence, orderliness, justice, and humanity. During his spare time, he loves to listen to worship songs, read, brainstorm on how to make humanity fare better and carry out evangelistic endeavors.
